The future of television is on the internet. Millions of people all over the world are changing their favorite spot from the couch to the computer chair. From Hulu to YouTube, there are so many options of how to watch your favorite movies and television shows on the computer. The technology society we are living in is all for it. The primary selection of watching an episode of a show or a movie on the computer is sweeping the globe. I propose to write a report on the switch from TV to internet.
Need
For viewers that would rather watch TV shows and movies on their computers than on their television sets are in luck. There are plenty of easy-to-use websites for the Gen-Y to experience.
Hulu.com is a free online video service that allows users to watch any movie or TV show they want
Netflix is a website where users can rent movies and shows straight from the computer. They could instantly be streamed to your computer online.
Youtube, who gets the most users, lets people watch, upload and share videos. From clips of movies to music videos to parts of a sporting event, youtube.com is a website everyone can learn to adapt to and enjoy
ESPN 3 is a part of ESPN.com which allows sports fans watch their favorite teams online right on the computer, no matter your location.
Video is turning very internet-friendly these days. All different types of video is being delivered through different websites giving Gen-Y many ways to access the TV shows, movies and videos they want to watch. Although there are still plenty of viewers watching regular television, people are surely watching a lot more shows and movies on the computer. Whatever video you want to watch, they have on the internet.

Hulu says that their mission is to let people "enjoy the world's premium video content when, where and how they want it." People do not need to have a television to watch what they want in this case. Gen-Y can watch hundreds of hit shows and movies for free all with a few clicks of the mouse. All they need is a computer and hulu.com.
If Netflix members pay the $8.99 per month, they can "instantly watch unlimited TV episodes and movies streamed to their TVs and computers." Any movie or show that is out on DVD can immediately be watched on Gen-Y computers, which can absolutely be worth it. Gen-Y users do not need to run out to the nearest blockbuster or Redbox; they can relax in their pajamas and do all the work in their chair in front of the computer.
Netflix made their videos both PC and Mac-compatible so all computer owners can get a piece of the pie. They said "Internet video streaming comes free with Netflix's regular subscription service" which really appeals to a lot of Gen-Y. Because instead of waiting for the movie in the mail, you can get there right there and then for the same price.
ESPN3.com is a broadband network for live sports programming. There are sports fans in every family in the world so this is a great invention by ESPN. This website lets Gen-Y watch any live sports game they want, with ease. You can be in New York and watch the Lakers Bulls game, or you can be in Florida and be able to watch the Colts Vikings game. It is absolutely incredible and one of the greatest things that has ever happened to sports fans.
Clips of Conan O'Brien's comedy tour are already on the internet. The "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour" kicked off Monday, April 12, 2010, and the next day it was already on various websites, including youtube. This just shows that everyone with different likes and tastes bring the outside world into the inner computer world. People want the clips of video up there for others to watch fresh, right when it happens.
